The model
L, introduced in 1921, was advertised as the "Liliputian ... the
little piano for the little amusement place." It quickly
became Seeburg's bestseller during the Prohibition years.
(Seeburg made an orchestrion also designated an "L," which was
discontinued when the smaller L was introduced.)
This
instrument was made in 1927. It operates from a
standard "A" type music roll. The L features a 54-note piano with
mandolin attachment. The instrument is
in excellent restored condition. The cabinet has been
refinished and has the original art glass and nickel coin drop.
The top or lid is a replacement. The piano has been restrung
and all mechanical components have been
restored. Cabinet measures four feet, five inches tall,
by three feet, two inches wide. Sale includes three
re-cut Style "A" music rolls (more are available). Click here to view a Youtube video of this
instrument.
